21.5 Weeks

How about some stats- woot! At last Friday's appt they were able to determine that Benjamin weighs 13.5 ounces putting him in the 56th percentile of fetuses his age. Not too big, not too small- we're good with that. I have only gained two pounds in 20 weeks, no small feat, literally. I'm pretty sure I gain 5 lbs on Christmas Day alone in non-pregnancy times. I get full very quickly and eat about half of what I would have eaten unpregnant. I am very thirsty. All the time. I've been waking up plenty in the middle of the night. Even worse, not being able to fall asleep afterwards leaves plenty of time for reflection; as evidenced by Blast from the Past week here on the blog. (Sorry.)

The best part? This week Ben has really started kicking ass. Literally, he's moving around like a jumping bean. And it's hilarious. I'm sure it won't be so funny when it's actual Kung Fu but random flips and spins is downright silly. I laugh out loud a lot when I'm alone. He's a riot. (Sorry again. I think my funny gauge is on the fritz, I still think the dog video is funny.)

I'm still trying to decide on a theme for the nursery; I keep going back and forth between froufrou (white eyelet bedding) and Pottery Barn's Jungle Friends. Those jungle friends are adorable and it won't require me to repaint the office from it's current green; but frou frou could translate back to a girl. And it keeps him a baby longer rather than a little boy. Here's frou frou: it's going to be a pale blue themed room, I think it's so soothing. Two opposite walls will be painted white and my friend Angela did the most gorgeous Victorian stencil in her daughter's room, it's so fine it looks like it could have been done with a pencil, but it's this really sweet sort of vase pattern- it's hard to explain - I'll get a picture. The other two walls will be blue. Over the crib I'm going to have a white oval painted, and have a woman from church paint tiny flowers around it. Then I'm going to have a scripture verse done from Wall Words and have that in the middle of the oval. Hmm, we may have to do a blog poll.

Important, Kris and I had a discussion about baby Ben's clothes. My dear husband is apparently anti-sailor suits and anti-smocking - ala Strasburg, Orient Expressed and Ragsland. That aggression will not stand. We decided, or rather I informed him- that if we lived in the north that might fly; but HERE in SAVANNAH; the children's appearance falls under the domain of the Lady of the House. Which includes all manners of decorating the home and what we eat. If this doesn't clear things up I fully intend to bring Miss Nancy and Aunt Lindy down from Marietta to rain hellfire on him. Check out my latest ebay purchase for an example of just what we're talking about:

I just love that you are writing in the blog so often!!

Congrats on planning the room already! Both of them sound adorable. I have to admit that I already have a baby room plan: undersea world, inspired by this--http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/PATTnautie.html

I would also be laughing out loud if a little being was doing somersaults inside me!

No, no, no. You cannot do a frou frou boy room. I vote jungle theme. Dress him as you wish, but I'll be buying him little-manly clothes. Cars, trucks, sports and animals!

hellfire? WTF?? I would like to note, that I just said I wasn't crazy about it. I generally don't care about much any of that stuff.. which works for both of us... Hon.. I think you should tune down the hellfire, because I don't thik you're ready for this jelly.
