Kris has gone back to work, and I do miss him. Not because he did all the heavy lifting- literally and figuratively- but because we've had such a fun time getting to know our baby, and believe it or not finally relaxing. We decided I really wasn't very much fun at all that last month of pregnancy, I was a crank. But now we're having a great time and laughing a lot. I'm so amazed by Kris, and if I told him all of this he'd shrug it off and I'd get a mini diatribe on how the state of society today has set the bar so low that as long as he comes home at night, and has a job that doesn't involve dog fighting or selling crystal meth out of our garage; he looks like a hero. But it's not true, he is a hero, for me and Baby Ben and the least I can do is tell you about it.
Facts:
Kris has changed 90% of Ben's diapers from the day he was born.
Kris had to teach me how to properly use the Swaddle Me's because he's been doing it so often.
Kris can properly measure the mylicon drops (this is hard, you'd think the manufacturers would make it easier because I'm sure they're aware you have a gassy baby and that's not easy)
Kris makes up great songs for the baby
Kris spent the bulk of the terrible hours with the bilirubin light, staring into ultra violet rays while trying to keep our very unhappy baby calm, at all hours of the the day and night, fighting sleep and a little bit of heartbreak.
Kris has insisted on making sure I sleep at the great cost of his own rest.
Kris is usually already standing next to the cradle making sure the baby is breathing, every time I wake up to do the same thing.
Kris will soothe the baby at night in between feedings so that I sleep.
Kris still gives Brody all kinds of attention and playtime.
Instead of going back to work yesterday morning Kris came to the pediatrician with me (Baby's bilirubin were up the day before and Dr. Daly wanted to see him with her own eyes) in case I got bad news.
Kris sets up the snoogle or boppy for me for each feeding so that I can keep holding the baby.
Kris gives me my medicine and makes sure I'm drinking plenty of fluids.
Kris makes all the calls I don't want to- to the home health care people, the lactation consultant, pediatrician, etc.
Kris loves being a dad.
He is the bestest. Not only is he a super dad, he's a superhusband. Scratch that- he's SUPERMAN. And he's home for lunch!!

I am crying...
hahaha, that was me, not Tim. hahaha
My husband did 90% of diaper changes and ALL of the swaddling right after my daughter was born too. I think its kind of a necessity after a C-section :/ Husbands are great :)
