Breaking News!

Kris' cousin Stephanie is pregnant! She's about 3-4 weeks behind me- so we'll both be pregnant during family vacation in the Outer Banks! I cannot tell you how excited I am that I'll be sharing this with the original Stephanie Lynch!
We have this family joke that whenever anyone does anything like spill a drink or forgets to get something at the store (tequilla), we yell, 'Ken ruined vacation!' 'Jim ruined vacation!' I have been fully expecting that my food and physical limitations would result in a constant chorus of "Stephanie ruined vacation!" and now when they say that they'll be talking about the two of us. Also it will be a real bonus for future vacations to have a baby so close in age. "There are two of you, go play, it's Mommy's Margarita Time.

10.5 Weeks

As Tyra would say, "You had a photo shoot and here's your best shot"
Here's Baby Lynch at 10 weeks and 2 days. (Wednesday). We still seem to know very little about this child even though the exam was quite invasive.
Here are the details as they have been revealed to us.
1. We know the location of the baby, my uterus, see above.
2. The baby is exactly 10 weeks and 2 days old according to the picture.
3. That makes my due date July 14, 2008. It will give a whole new meaning to Bastille Day, freeing the imprisoned and all.
4. The baby has a head, two arms and two legs, a spine and a beating heart.
5. The baby has moves. In rhythm, synchronized grooving moves. Seriously. the ultrasound technician said it was like the dancing baby from Ally McBeal. It makes sense, the baby attended Brian and Anna's wedding at 4 days old, and that early dance marathon exposure seems to really have paid off.

Morning sickness is still around. Kris suggested I toast bagels for breakfast, and thinking about bagels made me think about cream cheese which made me throw up. But the all day nausea is gone, constant fatigue keeps me company in its absence. If we are seeing you for Christmas your presents will be on time. If not you will enjoy the meaning of the twelve days of Christmas. If I can manage to pack a suitcase those of you expecting to see us and receive presents will see us tomorrow!

9 Weeks

So nothing really interesting happened between weeks 7 and 9, for me at least. I'm sure the baby would say that quite a bit has happened, like getting legs and all.

I'm really beginning to believe I've turned a corner on the morning sickness. After a bad spell this morning I feel good as gold today. I don't think I'm having actual cravings but the list of foods I'll tolerate grows longer every day. Mainly i'm interested in things with a high vinegar content. I almost drank the juice from a jar of cherry peppers two days ago. Speaking of that incident- I actually made dinner! I cut up italian sausage- no gagging once! - cooked it in juice from the cherry peppers, sauteed the cherry peppers and mixed it all together with penne pasta and sauce. This is pretty pedestrian cooking for me but seriously, it was a big deal. Kris could not believe it.

I retain super sonic smelling powers however.
The Dr.'s appt. I was supposed to have today was cancelled and re-scheduled for next week. Boo. But I guess that means the baby will just be bigger for it's first photo shoot. Tyra says smile with your eyes!

Goodnight, you moonlight Bradys

and rock-a-bye sweet Brady Jane
deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
won't you let me go down in my dreams
and rock-a-bye sweet Brady Jane.

Brady paseed away today. We used to manipulate the lyrics of songs to fit her name and Sweet Brady Jane was always my hands down favorite.

I won't go into the details of how hard it was to decide to put her down or how it was even harder to say goodbye to her, but I can tell you that she went easily and Kris and I felt a wonderful sense of peace in the room after she had gone.
Being sick and pregnant required food. Being Italian and overly emotional also requires food. So we held Brady's wake at Panera. And as it happens at most wakes, we inevitably wound about talking badly about the dead.

"You know, she was kind of aloof, for being 'man's best friend' and all."

"Yeah, and really there towards the end she kind of treated us like we were staff"

Brady was always an individual with a Greta Garbo complex. She would wander off and isolate herself in her cage in the laundry room if we were suddenly too much for her. Don't bother to follow, she'd just go somewhere else.

Once, when my sister was in high school she took the dog to her boyfriend's soccer game. Brady politely laid down on the sidelines, well out of the way of the action. My sister sat down next to her, and Brady got up and walked five feet further down the line and sat down.

In recent years, when we would pick her up from the kennel, she was able to muster zero excitement to see us, she'd give us a quick glance as if to say, "Did you pay? Did you get my things? Let's get out of here" and head straight for the door. We's stand there momentarily rejected amidst the spectacle of other owners reuniting joyfully with their pets , and then we'd follow her out to the car.

That's about the worst you could say for her, aside from incontinence. As an attribute it's really not desirable in any companion canine or otherwise.

She was a survivor. She once ate a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips, covered her entire sleeping bag in chocolate vomit and lived to tell about it after racking up an emergency vet bill $3 under her limit of $500.
She was shot in the back leg by a Swamp Yankee with a bb gun and didn't do anything more than limp for a week. Also, we weren't even aware she was shot until much later.
She overcame terrible food allergies. She did this mainly by eating the all natural holistic dog food I fed her, but she did her part.

She was sweet, really, really sweet. When we got the kittens she would carry them around and lay them down between her paws and the three of them would sleep in a cuddle puddle.

If you were ever crying, she would cry with you, whining away, "ow ow ow" until you stopped, mainly because you felt bad for making the dog cry.

The little girls in our neighborhood loved her tremendously. We were in high school and hardly had time for her, but this little gang of eight year old girls would show up at our house after school asking, "Can Brady play?" and my mom would hand them the leash and they'd all trot off down the street. They'd put a tutu on her and a crown and roller skate around her in their driveway. She loved it.

Brady loved kids. She loved to wear her Nittany Lion costume at tailgates because kids were always running up to her to pet her and have their picture taken with her.
Like any good Labrador mix she loved the water. She used to bark at us from the dock if we swam too far out, then she'd run to the shore, then back onto the dock, then back to the shore, and resignedly swim out to you and try to drag you back in. When we were in the Outer Banks we'd take her to the sound and she could wade and float effortlessly and all she wanted to do was fetch. Throw her a stick out of water and she would give you the stink eye, fail to throw her something while she was in the water and she'd pull your flip flop out of your hand and be gone.

She had wonderful manners, she'd never jump up on you, never lick you. Seriously. I think she licked me a total of five times in her whole life. In the latter part of her life she liked to be in whatever room we were in. Never intrusive, she just found a good corner and hung out. When she was younger you could walk a perimeter with her, take her off her leash and she wouldn't leave that box. She also knew a few good tricks. If you held up a beggin strip and said, "brady, give me love!" she'd stand on her back legs and dance around. If you pulled a fake gun out of an imaginary hip holster and shot her, pow!pow! and yelled "Dead Dog" she'd lay down, roll over, and put one paw in the air.
She was a good friend and a damn good dog. Thanks for 17 wonderful years girl.

The most beautiful day

Today is absolutely the most perfect day I have ever lived. There is not a single cloud in the sky, it's sunny and there's a light breeze. Oh and it's 76 degrees, on December 9. We have the windows open and it honestly smells like spring. if you told me it was April I'd believe you.

If we weren't sick I'd be outside doing something wonderful. But as it is I get to sit on the couch next to the open window and type away while we watch AniMusic on PBS. Also it smells like the Outer Banks. I love today.

CNN/ YouTube Debate

I mean I love youtube as much as the next person. I've spent many an hour getting lost down that rabbit hole. However, this debate is dumb. And it makes CNN looker dumber by associating themselves with youtube. Just by showing the videos they rejected makes the whole thing look silly. Sigh.

7 weeks.....

I'm really trying to stucture this so that my girlfriends who are pregnant can reference this blog later when they find themselves with child.

No, I had no idea I was pregnant. It's hard to tell if anything is going on this early.
If I can keep something in my stomach at all times the morning sickness isn't too bad. After I eat I literally can feel my blood rushing and I can practically count my pulse in my ears.
Mornings are the worst.
The cat can tell I'm pregnant- she loves me now.

Jugs

My boobs are awesome. They are really impressive.
I'm totally post-op.

Ch-Ch-changes....

UGH- it's ugly here. Morning sickness is in full effect. Kris calls it devil sickness. All food makes me sick, I've lost 17 pounds in a week and a half. Normally quite an accomplishment but since I haven't done anything it remains unnerving.

All food is gross. I have super sonic smelling powers.

This is what I can eat:
Perrier
Ginger Ale
Grapes
Cinnamon Raisin English Muffins
Crackers
Spegettios
Ramen Noodles
Apple slices
Pineapple
Water
Pizza- maybe

That is all. The suggestion of all other food makes me dry heave- loudly.

I spent the entire Thanksgiving weekend on the couch. I am exhausted. And my bra stopped fitting today. Awesome. Actually it kind of is when I can think outside of this fog. I tried to tell Kris it's like being really hungover without the headache but with the fuzzy memory. He tries to relate. He is a trooper.

We're Pregnant!

What? You mean you didn't just happen to wander over here patiently hoping that we might have posted more adventures in Lynchdom after such a long pause?

You must not know about me. I need major life changing status to propel me into a proper blogitude.

Well then, yes we are going to be parents. WOOT. After two months of glucophage- and it's serious crackhead side effects- I happened to get pregnant. I'll tell you how it happened... no. no. I'll just tell you how I told Kris. I was in the downstairs bathroom where I keep my stach of pregnancy tests and Kris was across the hall taking his pants out of the dryer unaware of the lab I was running in there. The test came back positive and I let out an "Oh my god" and he immediately says "You're pregnant" I said "nooooooooo, Bed Bath and Beyond has these 48 inch prelit outdoor topiary trees, and they're only 49.99 and then I realized that price was for two"

Kris said oh. Well I had always imagined telling him we were having a baby and finding a clever way to tell him, like in a t-shirt or building him a cake. But I was totally unprepared. I ran upstairs grabbed this little burp towel I bought in anticipation of a future baby, it says "Little Dawg Fan" *and I wrapped the test in it ran down stairs and handed it to kris. He unrolled it, dropped it on the floor and basically refused to believe it was true. But it is and I have my first appointment with our doctor on the 14th of December.

*Difference between living in Georgia and anywhere else. If I lived somewhere else I would have no idea where to find a burp towel embellished with a polka dot ribbon and monogramed according to our favorite SEC team.

New and improved!

We are re-dedicating this site to our family! We'll use this as a site we can all get together, virtually at least, to share news photos, recipes, book suggestions, and anything else we can think of!

Welcome Lynches!

Our Old Header

WE ARE....
