It was unfortunately inevitable...

Or inevitably unfortunate. I'm not sure, but it has come to pass that Ben has been given his first nickname. And it's bad, oh it's bad.
If you know us at all, you know that we have wide ranging nicknames for each other, our pets and our friends. One name usually d(evolves) into another until the final result is hardly recognizable from the original.
For example:
Brody= Rody, The Rody Fuss, Rodiferous
Olivia- Skip, Skippy, Skippy Style
Nathan and Cari- Nate Dog and Warren C.; Natorious D-O-G, Nataar (refers to the entity of Nathan AND Cari)
Mitch and Jaillene- MiMo, J. Bird.
Maureen= Mo, Molicious, Marley
Kelli= Hooker, Hook (not self-explanatory)
Me= Woof, Woofie Town, Woofinator, Weasel, Weas, McWeas, McFly, Rex, T-Rex,T. Fang, Wanton Magic
Michelle (Sissy) = Paco, Pancho, Shazzamm
Kris- Poodle, Poods, Pudd, Puddle, Pootie, Pootie Tang, Clark (Griswold), Foot, Foot Fall, Fluff (when he needs a hair cut.)
And the worst disambiguation was poor Violet's.
In evolutionary order:
Violet
Velvet
Velcro
Vicious
Violence
Vehemoth
Vo he
Bo he ne ma
Bo he ne ma on the dance floor
Bohemian Cat City
Bohemian Rat City
Rat City
We look at pictures of her now, and say, "Awww Rat City, i miss her."

So of course, for Ben, it was only a matter of time. I'm exposing his alter ego to you now, in the hopes that it's exposure will cause us to stop using it, because he's been turning his head when we say it and it's just NOT O.K.

When Ben was about 3 months old I TIME OUT***There is great controversy surrounding the origin of this name- I'll allow Kris to weigh in momentarily*** TIME IN, I started to make noises that would make him smile. One day I made a sort of purring tongue rolling sound and added some blather to the end- and he loved it. It sounded like drdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrrone-chi-chi!!! He would smile hugely. So I kept doing it. Then just "Rone Chi CHI!!!!!" was enough, and sometimes I'd mix it up and say it like my Italian grandfather would have: "Rone-Cheech!" And then I started calling HIM Rone Chi Chi or Rone Chi. "Awww RoneChi don't cry" "Hey RoneChiChi, what are you doing up from your nap?"
Which eventually just led to him being called Rone or The Rone.
"Aww he's such a Rone!" "Is The Rone napping?" "Hey Rone!"
So now my son turns his head, acknowledging the fact that we call him Rone. Again, not OK. So hopefully now that it's in the open we. can. just. stop.

Kris' side: When Ben was about a month old, I would notice that he would sometimes make a chewing motion when he would start to get 'half upset'.. so I started calling him 'Munchie' on a regular basis... I believe steph began with Rone Chi CHI!!! as an influence from hearing me calling him Munchie. Rone Chi CHI has taken the place of Munchie.. .he didn't really munch for very long anyway.

You both are far too funny. I always thought that "Ben" was too traditional for the duo known as Lynch Pins and Needles. After some initial thought, I think I prefer Rone. But I will be respectful and call him by his full name, Rone Chi Chi.

Well, this just affirms what we already knew, that Chase and Ben are destined to be life long friends. Chase's baby nickname was (and is, occasionally) Monchichi, as in this. Because that's what he looked like as a newborn (although it's also been contended that he looked a lot like a tiny, colicky Lou Diamond Phillips).

This is okay to call your child...just make sure to switch it up with his real name so when you are in public people aren't weirded out. For example: "Hey Boopy!" ---"Did you just call her booby?"

Oh you guys...
Has anyone ever mentioned that reading your blog and then looking away causes dark/light horizontal stripes in vision?
